Rodríguez said she had a phone conversation with her son two days ago from Havana, in which Antonio stressed the excellent spirit and satisfaction of the Five for the verdict issued by the US Court of Appeals 11th Circuit in Atlanta.
The three judge panel reversed the convictions and sentences, and remanding them to a new trial on the basis that they would never get a fair and impartial trial in Miami, where they were sentenced to harsh terms from 15 to double life imprisonment.
"That spirit fills us with optimism to keep fighting for their release", said Rodriguez.
Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labańino, René González, Fernando González and Antonio were detained in Miami in 1998 for trying to thwart terrorist plots connived in south Florida against Cuba.
The mothers, wives and children of the five Cubans attended the 16th International Youth Festival that took place in Caracas, Venezuela, where they fulfilled a tight agenda which included a press conference on Monday.
